Here the workaround would be to make a Construction line and create a dimension using that.

Please check the attached file with the dimension marked.

actually for now we are using a similar workaround (we are creating a point), but the problem of this workaround is that changing the pipe the dimension is not correctly updated.

Is there any chance to be able to select the model line?

yes this is a solution but it is inconvenient to do it for many quotas, it can be a temporary solution and not forever, and the problem is that if you update the size of the pipe the dimension does not update
