SubscriberI need to assign direction of magnetization to some permanent magnets, part of a 3D model in Ansys Maxwell. In order to do that, I need to create relative frames of references with respect to each of the magnets. How do I do that in a 3d model using cylindrical coordinate system? Please specify steps, preferably with an example. Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeEvery coordinate system in Maxwell acts simultaneously as Cartesian, Cylindrical, Spherical. You just need align it along the Z-axis, and set the material properties as Cylindrical. In the upper-right of the Material property definition, change Cartesian to Cylindrical, and you will see the Magnetic Coercivity vector expressed as R, Theta, Z. Then, make sure that your object is assigned with the correct material, and use the Orientation property on your object to choose the correct coordinate system.

Boost Ansys Fluent Simulations with AWS
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) helps engineers design products in which the flow of fluid components is a significant challenge. These different use cases often require large complex models to solve on a traditional workstation.
