DPM in sliding mesh

      Dear all, 


      I am doing a sliding mesh simulation (a turbine stator and a turbine rotor).The rotor is moving and the stator is stationary. I am injecting some particles (using DPM method) in the moving domain. The problem is that when I tried to see the particles tracks, it did not show up! In the console, during the iteration process, it says that there are particles that were injected!

      One more clarification: The effect of those droplets on the continuous phase is seen in the results (Temperature, etc) but the tracks don't appear.

      What do you see in the console? Copy/paste the fates. Please use Fluent for post-processing. Are you using transient tracking?

      I am using Fluent post-processing. Yes, I am using unsteady tracking in a sliding mesh. The time step for the particle is equal to that of the flow.

      You won't see anything as the particles are already escaped and evaporated: nothing to show.

      Typically the particles tracks show the history of any particle variable, For example like showing the particle diameter history from the injection start till evaporation. Same with showing particle residence time, etc. Particles tracks show that even if the particles evaporated or escaped.

      Yes for steady state tracking.

      But what if I want to see the unsteady particle tracking history? I want know where those droplets evaporated and how they moved, etc?

      You need then to store the tracks every tracking step. Refer additionally to reporting of current particle positions for unsteady particles.

      I had already read the manual and it is not clear regarding dpm injections with sliding meshes. Please correct me if I didn't understand you well. To show graphical colored particles tracks (the injection is inside a sliding mesh), the particle tracking should be steady. And in case of using unsteady particle tracking, then only history reports can be shown not graphical colored tracks because the graphical in this case will show the current position only (which does not the whole track). Am I right?

      Almost: with sliding mesh only unsteady tracking is available as the whole thing is unsteady.

       Both tracking types are available with sliding mesh. It is mentioned in the manual that the tracking type is independent of the solver.

      steady state tracking does not make sense here.
