SubscriberGoodmorning community,
I'm trying to simulate the falling of a 3D complex shaped object (a seed) with dynamic mesh using 6 DOF. My computational domain consist in a large cylinder with a seed inside, around it i've activate both capture proximity and curvature, generating a nice boundary layer around the object. The quality of the tetrahedral mesh is good, i.e. orthogonal ratio = 0,20, max aspect ratio =8. I'm stuck because the cells near the seed, when it starts to rotate, deform too much leading to non negative volume. I'm using diffusion with a diffusion factor=1.5 and remeshing using the scale length of my mesh information. I've set the remesh every timestep to reduce the deformation of the cells, but nothing works.
Can someone which has permorf a similar task help me in understand where i'm wrong? The report in the console show this messages at each timestep :
solution is converged!
6dof angular solver not converged.
Many thanks
Alberto

SubscriberHi,
There is a tutorial (Chapter 14: Using Overset and Dynamic Meshes (ansys.com) is to offer instructions and suggestions for setting up and resolving a dynamic overset mesh case. The overset meshing technique is used in conjunction with the Six Degree of Freedom (6DOF) solver
Hope you find it useful.
Thank you
