Ansys EmployeeSorry to reply you late, as our team is quite busy recently.nDid you install the python by your self beside Lumerical software? if so, I suggest that you uninstall the python, uninstall lumerical software, restart your computer, reinstall the Lumerical software only, and then try the test again. You can download the newest version 2021R1.2 online now.nBut it could be due to other reasons. The KX forum has several similar posts, please search failed to evaluate code and you can read the related replies, and see which one better solves the issue you are facing.https://kx.lumerical.com/search?q=failed%20to%20evaluate%20codenplease note that KX will stop working within about a week. I will delete the above link before the end of this week.March 30, 2021 at 11:49 pmTaylor Robertson
Ansys EmployeeHello tgartner,nnYou should download all the files in the same directory when you run the python files, since there are dependencies. The problem seems to be that the base script is an empty fsp file? These features were incorporated into the 2D GC AG example, this version is kept up to date with new features and is verified with QA.nnBest,nMarch 31, 2021 at 5:59 pmtgartner

Thank you.nDo you know if this updated example (https://support.lumerical.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042800573-Inverse-design-of-grating-coupler-2D-) can be run in FDTD or does it require MODE. I currently do not have a license to open to example MODE file. Does any step involved (going from 2D to 3D, or generating the GDS file) require MODE specifically?nThanksnMarch 31, 2021 at 6:04 pmtgartner
SubscriberThank you,nCan you tell me if the updated example optimization (https://support.lumerical.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042800573-Inverse-design-of-grating-coupler-2D-) required lumerical MODE? or can it be run completely in FDTD? For instance, can FDTD create the JSON files, convert the 2D to 3D model, and create the GDS file?nViewing 4 reply threads- You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
