I don't remember seeing this error before. I tried plotting a contour plot of Mach number on a plane and didn't encounter any such issue. Did you try deleting the result object and create a new one? Also, are you getting same error for other result objects like pressure contour or velocity contour, etc.?
Can you try closing the project, then perform the following steps:
1. Clear all data from %temp% folder
2. Go to ~AppDataRoamingAnsys folder and rename folder v195 to v195_old
Once done, please open the project and recreate the result object. Let me know if this helps or not.

Off course I would love to share the steps:
1. I deleted my temporary file from my cache memory.
2. I restarted the application and run the simulation again and then I was able to extract the results.
