SubscriberHello, I am a student new to Ansys and using version 19.2.
I am trying to model a beam bending using the static structural tab in Ansys. I have created the beam using step 3 (geometry). I simply created a cylinder of 150mm radius and 1m length. Then when I moved on to step 4 and double click Model it comes up with this error:
"Unable to set display parameters property in Mechanical Either the application crashed or Workbench lost communication with it."
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SubscriberHello Elie,
Please update your graphics card driver and see if that helps.
What graphics card is your computer using?

Peter

SubscriberHello,
My drivers seems to be up to date, although i'm not entirely sure how to check that. I used the system checking windows tool to check for updates. I have the GTX 960m graphics card.
When I try to launch mechanical it also generates this file AnsysWBDumpFile.dmp.
Could it be not working because I installed Ansys to my secondary drive (D
instead of C: ?
Thank you for your help.

SubscriberHello Elie,
ANSYS is tested to work properly with a list of higher-end graphics cards and the GTX 960M is not on the list. That doesn't mean ANSYS won't work with graphics cards not on the list, it just means that if you want to avoid problems like you are having, use a card from the list. Some people who had problems with SpaceClaim were able to change a default on the Rendering engine and fix their problem.
You get the latest driver by going to the NVIDIA site and downloading the driver for your card.
I think you can install on D drive instead of C drive, as long as it it a local drive. Did you Run as Administrator when you ran setup.exe?
Regards,
Peter

SubscriberHello,
I have installed the latest driver for my graphics card as well as re-installing on the C drive running the setup.exe as administrator and it still does not work, same problem. Do you know what is the default I need to change on the Rendering engine to fix my problem?
Thank you very much for your help.

SubscriberHello Elie,
There are only a few choices of Renderer, so just try each one and see if any work.
