Etch hole in spiral shaped material

      Hi,

I want to etch holes in random pattern in spiral shaped material.

Please suggest a way to approach.

      Thanks

You can use the random structure group and modify it:

the basic idea is to create the randomness with Gaussian and other probability distributions. The difficulty is, you probably do not know how many random holes in the structure. You may need to test different cases and get statistical results.

      Thank you for suggestions.

May i know if how can i create certain number of holes in spiral structure?

In the structure groups, it has a max loop counter. You can modify it.

      Thank you,

the spiral shape cordinates varies in ring.

how can i set etch cordinate to add holes in ring?

      Thanks

First you need to know what kind of randomness you want to simulate?  location? size or shape of holes? you know the thickness of each layer. so you can limit the coordinate range of the random holes. It may need somewhat complicated math expressions. inside the range, the location is random, right?

      thank you for reply,

i wanted to add holes with location randomness in spiral material structure.

but i want to try initially with holes in pattern, how can i just etch holes in spiral structure. what could be the script like to set holes in spiral structure as ring corodinates pattern is hard to formulate.

Without a math description, it is hard to build. you may just specify the range of xyz, and make a judgement that the hole must be in the spiral, or can be partially in the spiral. I would think the holes (with material the same as gap in the spiral) could be anywhere in this structure. Please try the simple things first.
