Evaporation Below the Saturation Temperature

      Hi,

I'm trying to model the evaporation of water droplets in a pipe. I saw that the evaporation-condensation model only works if the temperature of the droplet is above the saturation temperature. Is there some way to model evaporation below the saturation temperature? Would the only solution be to create a UDF?

      Thanks in advance

Pure fluids will undergo phase change at saturation temperature assuming nuclei are there.

What do you want to do?

      Hi Amine,

Thanks, for the reply. I would like to model how water evaporates in air at temperatures below 100ºC. At the moment I can only get water to evaporate using the evaporation-condensation model at temperatures above this. Is there some way to easily model this?

      Thanks

You need to write a small UDF for that. You need to use the Hertz Knudsen / Scharge formulation. The mass transfer is driven by pressure differences: partial pressure of water vapor in air to its saturation pressure.

      I'l try that, thanks!
