      Hi,

I am trying to do magnetostatics analysis for a wireless power transfer coil geometry. I am getting the error message below and I am confused on why. I am very new to the program so sorry if my question is rudimentary. Any further guidance on the situation would be greatly appreciated. I really appreciate all the help I have been getting on this forum. If there is any way I can help just let me know how! Thanks!

Hi,nExcitation has to be assigned on a face not on an buck object. To do this you need to switch to face selection mode by pressing F on your keyboard. nAlso, this face has to be flat, cannot be a curved face. n

Hi Array ,nI am trying to do magnetostatics analysis for a wireless power transfer coil geometry. To do this I am pretty sure I have to add leads that extend to the outer layer of the meshing region. Shown at time 4:30 in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufez4F0X2fY&t=24s. I am trying to add current to the highlighted copper coil as in the attached picture. Assign Excitation-->Current and I am getting the same error message as before--Clicking F is not doing anything for me. Any other suggestions? I really appreciate all the help!nnselection mode-->faces.n

Hi Array ,nSorry for the confusion I am new to the software. I am trying to compare my core design (circular Pie shape) output to the one in the below figure. To do this, I believe, I have to perform a magnetostatics analysis on my wireless power transfer coil design (Circular Pie shape). As mentioned before I am trying to follow the process outlined in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufez4F0X2fY&t=24s. However, when I try and add a current excitation I am getting the error mentioned in my first post. Furthermore, I am unable to extend the Leeds to the outermost edge of my meshing region. Am I not able to do this type of analysis on my core design? I attached a picture of my core design with color (grey = aluminum, black = Ferrite, orange = copper). Any further guidance on the situation would be appreciated. Thanks!nn

Hi, nYou can select face of the end cross section of the extended leads to assign excitation. n

nI was able to select the face, and I followed the rest of the steps outlines in the video. However, I am now getting these error messages when I run it. Do you have any guidance on what to do for these error messages? Thank you! nn

Hello! nI would suggest you take a different method of design which makes it all easy to design the type of coil you are trying to develop and excite. Please go through this video and see if it helps. It will definitely help you develop an errorless coil structure, unlike the previous one you attempted. nhttps://youtu.be/hIwQ_u8l7kMnOne thing you must try is that instead of helix structure in this video try a spiral structure with the same process and go on with what you have learned. I guess it will help. n

Hi,nCould you share screenshots of what your excitation on the geometry is like? nAs mentioned, the face cannot be curved face it has to be flat. The error message Cannot apply current excitation to non-planer entity is related to this point. n

nI am following vishwash video and am adding a spiral coil instead of flat. However, I am unable to change where the coil is located. For all other objects I make, the program asks me to specify what coordinates it wants me to center the object in but it does not ask me for my spiral coil. Any further guidance on the situation would be greatly appreciated. Below is my geometry. Thanks!nn

Hi,nBased on the error message, I'm more interested in what your excitation look like rather than what the coil look like. Could you click on your excitation in the project manager, in that way the excitation with arrow would show on the modeler. n

nI have overwrite my previous attempt (what you are referring to) as I thought I needed to change the coil. Do you know how I could move the coils orientation--change the coordinates it is centered at? Following this I will then be able to show you my excitation. Thank you!

Hi, nBy move the coils orientation, do you want to move the coil to another location or rotate the coil so it'll face another direction? nYou can select the PolygonHelix1 and use move or rotate function to change the coil position/orientation.nn

Hello Array,nI am trying to position the coil ontop of the ferrite. Keep in mind I am simulating wireless power transfer and therefore I have a variable called offset (airgap length) and when I use the move option I am unable to type in variables in bottom left (when I clock tab). Do you know how I could move the coil in such a way? n

Hi,nAfter moving, if you double click on the Move operation in the history tree, you can change any of the number in move vector to a variable. n

nThank you, I got it running. However, I am running into these errors now... Do you have any clue how to fix this? Thank you for your time!n
