Extrusion Difficulties

      Hello I am just started using the software.


      So I am very new, I have a decent background in other CAD Programs.


      I watched the tutorials on lip shape and duplicated what I saw but I have an issue that maybe the narrator did not cover.


      I made a simple geometry and under physics regions I have an error which states "disconnected (group of0 bodies found. see the adding region interface conditions for polymer extrusion simulations" section in the help for details.


      Clicking on help changes the box on the right of the screen however the box is empty.


      so I tried adding a interface condition (region interface). doing so eliminated the physics region error, however when I start adding fluid flow conditions and then get an error region interface is adjacent to a die deformation, which is not allowed. Define a multi-body part with connected bodies. see "considerations for region interfaces and polymer extrusion" in the help for details. again clicking on help does not do anything.


      I just need to figure one out. Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance

      Are there actual manuals for these cad programs. The video tutorial is not helpful in this situation. If anyone has any advice i would appreciate it.

      Hello rlsnedeker 


      Regarding extrusion problem, you need to have mesh connectivity between the die and extrudate. To get this, open the geometry in SpaceClaim and under Workbench tab, click "Share" to connect the bodies. Now import this geometry. You will now see that the generated mesh is connected near the die and extrudate interface. Next, if you go to Physics regions, you will no longer get the message of disconnected bodies.


      Regarding help button issue, I am not sure what could be the issue. Can you try visiting https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/ and see if you are able to access the help section?

      I guess the student version of SpaceClaim can be accessed under ANSYS Student product bundle.


      Discovery Live can also be used for doing SpaceClaim operations as it contains all SpaceClaim tools.

       thank you for helping me with that issue, however I believe I now have a license issue. Does the students version have extrusion die lip prediction? 
       
      I am getting the following message . "update failed for the solve physics component in study. the solution task update failed see the error message for more details."then below it says physics 1: ansys license not available" any idea how to move forward?

      Can you go to the folder: %TEMP%/.ansys, find the file: henlicdebug.STUDY_MESH.192.out, t copy and paste its contents into this discussion?

      %TEMP% is a temporary folder on your windows machine, type %TEMP% in Search, and it'll point it to you. The full path will be something like:


      C:UsersusernameAppDataLocalTemp

      I did not find a henlicdebug.STUDY_MESH.192.out


      but I did find licedebug.study_mesh.192 which has this in it

      One more thing to check, the student license is limited to a mesh of 1 million cells, or 50 bodies, or 300 faces. Does your mesh or geometry exceed these limits?


      Someone will get back to you about the licensing file.

      Where would you check for the mesh count?


      If I am doing a die lip prediction under polymer extrusion, 


      after importing geometry you produce a mesh would u check there?


      If that is the issue, can you limit the mesh count or just change the mesh size?


      That's if I don't have a license issue. 


      Sorry for my lack of experience with Ansys but I appreciate everyones assistance with these issues. 


      Ansys has already changed the way I am going about my capstone project for school.

      So I checked and I don't believe that my meshes exceeded that .

      the geometry was simple it was an l shape. it had 6 faces

      Hi nmpatre,


      I am trying to follow your step to 'share' the two body. I am using discovery live to modify my geometry but I could not find the workbench tap as well as the share button. Could you be more specific about where I could find these two buttons?
