SubscriberHello ! I'm currently stuck at an error which says failed to convert mesh to polyhedra. I also searched the Ansys learning forum, didn't find anything. Please help ! -

Ansys EmployeeHello Bhaskar
As suggested earlier, did you try reviewing your mesh? Can you share a few snapshots of the generated mesh so that I can get an understanding of it?

Ansys EmployeeHello Bhaskar Thanks for sharing the image. As I suspected, the mesh is very coarse. You can see only 2 elements across the thickness as well as in the rectangular section highlighted below. There should be a minimum of 3 mesh elements so that the tetra mesh gets successfully converted to poly mesh. Please refine the mesh using global and/or local settings. You can check the AIM examples posted on this forum and check out the mesh generated in those models to get an understanding.

SubscriberCan you please suggest me the required mesh settings for the same ? That would be extremely helpful.

Ansys EmployeeHello Bhaskar First, you can try increasing the mesh resolution by moving the slider shown below to the extreme right. If this doesn't help to refine the mesh, deselect the option "Use predefine settings". This will allow you to manually specify the mesh sizes. Under Global sizing, set the Maximum face size as 1/3rd of the thickness.

SubscriberHello ! I tried your recommended settings and my computer got stuck at Initializing mesh operation, despite of having 8 GB of RAM , and a 6 core processor. Had to force shutdown my PC. Is it possible for you to mesh the model if I archive the entire project and send it through mail ?

Can you try reducing the boundary layer count from 5 to 3 and regenerate the mesh? You can find the Boundary layer settings under Mech Controls
