Flow through small gaps

  We've got a number of fluid flow problems that involve flow through small (sub-millimeter) gaps. Discovery Live seems to ignore fluid spaces when they get too small. I couldn't get the geometry I was interested in to work so I made one with a large gap (~25mm on a side) and kept reducing the height until flow through it appeared to stop at around 1mm.
  
  Is there some limit built into Discovery Live to ignore small gaps and if so can it be changed by the user?
