Hi all,
After successfully practice on DM and Mesh, I was trying to import an object to fluent.exe; however, Workbench gave me this error.
[Error! Could not find #Path/to/fluent.exe]
I checked the directory and found no fluent.exe.
I then checked the ZIP file [WINX64] in [fluentc] downloaded from the website, found no fluent.exe.
How can I deal with this problem?
Thank you.

Ansys EmployeeAre you trying to launch Fluent, or are you clicking on the .exe file? What happens when you open Fluent from within Workbench?

SubscriberI was trying from within the workbench.
When I clicked on it, the error presented.
After checking the file fluent.exe that the error told me that it's gone, there was no such file in the directory as it said.

Ansys EmployeeHi ErnestPP,
Do you have it under your installed directory , for example C:Program FilesANSYS Incv192fluentntbinwin64fluent.exe
If so, check your environment variables
ANSYS192_DIR=C:Program FilesANSYS Incv192ANSYS
AWP_ROOT192=C:Program FilesANSYS Incv192
If you don't have it, something is wrong with the installation or the anti-virus removed it.
Also, did you install Fluent ?
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberHi Win,
- I don't have the directory v192fluentntbin (only fluent19.2.0 directory in the v192fluent directory) nor the fluent.exe in any directories I searched.
- I have the environment paths aforementioned set.
- I have tried installing the software turning the firewall and anti-virus software off, but the problem persists.
- I tried other coupling like structural analysis and it works, so the problem may be only with fluent.exe.
Thank you,
Ernest

Ansys EmployeeHi Ernest,
I do not have v19.2 student version installed but I do have v19.1 and I have this C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Studentv191fluentntbinwin64 directory including the fluent.exe underneath it.
Do you have an install.err file under C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Student ?
If so, please post its content.
If not, please post the screenshot of the properties of 'unzipped' ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64 folder.
Thank you,
Win

SubscriberHi Win,
Here is the Error in the Install.ERR file I just found.
According to the ZIP file,
- There is nothing in the ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64fluent directory.
- There is nothing in the ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64tpjre directory.
- Nor there are in the 'unzipped' file.
- I believe something was broken during download.
I used to use the v19.0 student version and it worked just fine.
Kind regards,
Ernest

Ansys EmployeeHi Ernest,
Ah, that would explain it.
Could you try re-downloading the installation package , then once you get the file, please check file size (rt-click -> Properties -> Size ) , it should exactly match the following number
( zipped ) ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64.zip : 4,088,921,135 bytes
( unzipped ) ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64 : 4,096,562,716 bytes
Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Win

I downloaded and unzipped, the following are the size.
- Unzipped : 4,088,921,135 bytes (matched)
- Zipped : 4,088,742,005 bytes (not matched)
During the extraction, this error popped up.
! E:Program FilesAnsysANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64.zip: Checksum error in E:Program FilesAnsysANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64fluentcWINX64.7z. The file is corrupt

Ansys EmployeeHi Ernest,
That's very odd, somehow you get the unzipped size to be exact but not the zipped version.
Can you try extract it using the 'built-in' Windows extraction ?
For Win 7
https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/file-management/zip-unzip-win7
For Win 10
http://www.simplehow.tips/a/56/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-in-windows10
Thank you,
Win

Hi Win,
From the Windows file extraction, it appeared that my OS doesn't know the compressed file type (...fluentwinx64).
Other than above, all the files were extracted successfully.
The extracted files from the Windows file extraction also has the size the same using WinRAR.
Kind regards,
Ernest
I'm sorry, the file is in fluentc directory (not fluent).

Ansys EmployeeHi Ernest,
Sorry, I meant for you to redo it from the original zipped file 'ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64.zip'
Don't manually extract any zipped file inside this.
Once you extract this and get the folder ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_192_WINX64 , go inside and run the setup.exe with 'run as administrator' . Make sure you completely remove your current ANSYS installation (e.g., C:Program FilesANSYS Inc) before attempting the reinstall.
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberHi Win,
I successfully installed ANSYS 19.2 student version.
Fluent can be launched from workbench.
There are still some minor weirdness like;
- I can't see the mesh I input in the workbench (written from Design Modeler) like previous version. Not sure if the procedure's changed.
- There is a coordinates option (2D, 2Ddp, 3D, etc.) to start Fluent; however, after launching once, there's one more window of it popped up. (doesn't matter for it to work)
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Ernest

Ansys EmployeeMissing mesh like that could be graphics, or you could need to manually view it. Is there an icon in Meshing that says "View Mesh" or similar? Hopefully it's not greyed out.
Not sure about the Fluent issue - can you close the extra pop-up?

SubscriberThank you @rwoolhou and @tsiriaks.
I think this issue is solved; though, I don't really know the root of the problem.
(missing mesh and extra pop-up are minor (able to close), so I'll end it here.)
Thank you and have a great day.
