Fluent not working in Ansys 2020 R1

      Hi,

I followed a similar thread posted a few days earlier, but my error is slightly different. When I launch the setup stage in Fluent, the application fails. I have reinstalled the program three times and ran it as an admin when reinstalling. I have attached screenshots from the console.

Please let me know what I should do and thanks for your help!

You are also having some MPI issue.

What steps did you follow from other thread ? Did you set some MPI environment variables ? It could be that you set wrong values.

Is this the same error as your original error before applying any suggestion on here ?

You can try Fluent Launcher, click more options -> parallel -> select MPI type to be MS-MPI and check the box to specify IP address to be 127.0.0.1

I hadn't tried anything in specific, only read over the thread. I will try the suggestion made above and report back.

Any updates on this problem? Thanks!

This issue is likely Firewall or Anti-virus or some issue with local networking on your machine (such as using VPN)

If you have full control on these, you can do a quick test by turning all of them off and see if it makes a difference. If so, you can enable them back but just add the correct exceptions/exclusions.

I was able to disable my Anitvirus and run the software, this prompted the Windows defender prompt to pop up, where I was able to allow the software to run. Fluent is up and running. Thanks for your help!

That's great ! If you want , you can turn on your Anti-virus again but just add exclusions to those executable's or folders.

If you are good for now, please mark this post as 'Is Solution' , so we know it's been addressed.
