SubscriberHi All,nI am trying to run parametric sweep for a Fluent Design from workbench, and the simulation gets stuck after solving a design point and doesn't move on to the next point. The simulation runs fine if I open each point in fluent and run it from the fluent UI, and the issue exists only if I run from workbench. The solution trn file or solution monitoring output shows successful completion of simulation (displays final stats, wall time etc), but the progress bar is stuck on the same design point and doesn't move on to the next one. Pressing interrupt doesn't do anything either. I can only abort the process or force kill a fl_mpi process from the Windows task manager, at which point it would move on to the next design point. I could also see that i am unable to edit the Working directory when I start fluent, and it defaults C\Users\, and that after completion of the design point from the workbench, the cleanup script from this location is never called.nI am using the Research license, and has tried using Fluent 19.2,20.1 and 20.2, and issue remains the same in all cases. I am using a 32 Core machine with 256GB of RAM, and sufficient storage, and no resource consumption ever rises to above nominal values during any parts of the simulation.nI have tried this with disabling solution monitoring as well, as has been suggested in this forum previously for the same issue. Creating this new thread as I am unable to elicit any responses from the previous ones. I would really appreciate any solution and/or workaround for this as I have been really stuck with this one for a long time now. Providing links to other threads describing the same issue for your reference.nThanks in advance!n· https://forum.ansys.com/discussion/704/desginpoints-in-ansys-18-2-workbench-got-stuck-at-the-stage-of-updating-model-in-static-structuraln· https://forum.ansys.com/discussion/10297/design-points-of-fluent-simulation-randomnly-gets-stuck-after-convergingn· https://forum.ansys.com/discussion/14508/issue-with-fluent-idleing-on-solution-in-workbenchnn -

Ansys EmployeeHello, nHave you tried with the option of Updating the entire project? If not, please try that and let us know if you are still getting the error. n -

SubscriberYes, I have tried that option as well. It still gets stuck between design points. Please let me know if you need further details from my end.nThanksn -

Ansys EmployeeDo you have an expression that is defined as a boundary condition? If so, can you please check to see if those expressions are right and are being updated at each design point? n -

SubscriberNo, I do not use ant expressions in my boundary conditions. I just have input parameters for the flow rate(s). Further, to reiterate, these seem to be solving without any issues if I manually load any design point in Fluent (i.e. set the design point as current from Workbench, and then open fluent set-up). The issue occurs only when I try to run multiple design points in sequence. nFurther, I tried re-running an older simulation I had (which I successfully did a parametric sweep using an older version of Workbench, on a Linux machine) from my current installation, and it is having the same issue. I also tried for multiple designs and geometries and the issue seems to persist. -

SubscriberHi everyone,nI am facing the exact same issue as described in this post (I have tried ANSYS Academic versions 2019.1, 2020.1 and .2 on windows). The solution suggested by did not work for me. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.nnThank you.n -

Ansys Employee: Can you please briefly describe the simulation model you are working on and also the give us a few details on the mesh and boundary conditions. Thanks. n -

AdministratorJust to add - does this happen only on one single WB project or do you see the same behavior on any small WB project with parametric study? The reason I'm asking you is to pin point if this is an issue with this one particular model or if it is something to do with your WB installed on your system.nThanks.nKarthikn -

Subscriber: As I have described, the issue is occurring even in a Fluent simulation I had previously ran successfully on another installation (Ansys 17.2 , on a Linux machine). I am currently trying to re-simulate the exact same file, as well as couple of new designs, which essentially involves fluid flow in some micro-channels. The boundary conditions include Heat flux on one of the walls, a parametrized velocity inlet, and a pressure outlet. nAlso to answer question, I have seen this for multiple models now (including as I mentioned, a design which had successfully solved earlier on another machine, in an older version of Ansys). I have tried uninstalling and re-installing all my Ansys programs as well, and have tried 3 versions (19.2, 20.1, 20.2). Please let me know if you need any more details.nn -

SubscriberAlso, to add , I have tried the simulations even with my Antivirus/Firewalls disabled as well, and that's also giving the same results.n -

SubscriberI just tried another very simplified WB project on 19.2, and am getting exactly the same issues. The design is a simple rectangular channel, with a parametrized velocity inlet and a pressure outlet. The design converges successfully if I run from Fluent, but gets stuck after one design point when running from WB. Also uploading the solution monitoring output showing successful completion/point at which the calculation just gets stuck for your reference.nnn

SubscriberI have already tried that as I have mentioned in the previous comments, but that is not solving the issue.nn -

Ansys EmployeeSeems to be a systems/license issue. I will move this post to the appropriate section. n -
