SubscriberHello,
a question related to functionality of ANSYS Student 2023R1: which functionality is avaliable? The package includes a lot of software modules, but it seems that not all are working. If I open the Workbench environment then I can see also LS-DYNA there. I would like to use metal forming simulation with LS-Dyna explicit solver. I can easily prepare it with LS-PrePost module included with the ANSYS Student. However, if try to solve it (metal forming easy set-up within LS-PrePost creates a windows bat-file that has to be executed to run the simulations), nothing happens - it does not solve, does not show any errors, nothing. So, my question is: is this problem related with ANSYS Student or my computer settings?
Does ANSYS Student license allow to use LS-DYNA solver or is it limited?

Ansys EmployeeAnsys Student and https://www.ansys.com/academic/students/ansys-ls-dyna-student look to be different bundles at present.
Can you check which bundle you installed? You're allowed both, so that's not a problem! However, I suspect not all of the functionality in LS-Dyna is available in the Student version.

SubscriberHi,
The software is ANSYS Student, not Ansys LS-DYNA Student. ANSYS Student has also LS-Dyna executables included, but Ansys LS-DYNA Student has only LS-Dyna related modules. So, I figured that if ANSYS Student has all included then perhaps I don’t need to use this limited LS-Dyna version.
Actually, I just found out that LS-PrePost included in ANSYS Student 2023 R1 is probably bit faulty, and creates incomplete bat-file. It worked fine when I downloaded new version of LS-PrePost. However, it used our university’s Dyna licenses, not the one from ANSYS Student. Perhaps ANSYS Student does not have any Dyna license included, but if you have the license, the executables are fully functional? I couldn’t find it out, because I have other ANSYS products also installed and it took the license automatically.
If our students are using ANSYS Student 2023 R1, are they able to run LS-Dyna with this or do they need to use Ansys LS-DYNA Student instead?
Thank you!

SubscriberUpdate: LS-PrePost included in Ansys Student 2023 R1 is probably faulty, and creates incomplete bat-file. It worked fine when I downloaded new version of LS-PrePost. A question remains: does Ansys Student 2023 R1 have a license for LS-Dyna included or is product called Ansys LS-DYNA Student needed for that? They both have LS-Dyna executables included. I cannot check it myself (without reconfiguring my computer's settings), since I have other Ansys products also installed, and it behaves probably differently when compared to computers without other Ansys software installed (i.e. computers of our students). -

Ansys EmployeeIf you have other nonStudent Ansys products installed then it's possibly an issue with the licence manager(s). Student and "normal" managers have a tendency to try and overwrite each other. By installing Student LS-Dyna you may just have overwritten the "other" manager.
I would be very surprised if there was a problem with the Student bundle LS-Dyna as we'd have seen many more questions.
