This would reduce the time considerably. Also, their are homogenized approaches to structures like foam and honeycomb where the cavities are modelled with additional inputs in material data, rather than meshing it to the finest details. Can i know what solver are you employing to model the foam body, by that i mean, if you are familar with the LSDYNA -FOAM material MAT_005/MAT_SOIL_AND_FOAM, you dont need to model the microstructure of it, you can use the Experimental data which has followign information apart from isotropic eleasticity terms as follows n2) if your aim was to describe the microstructure deforming mechanisms, your approachs is good, that said, if you want to refine the mesh, it will take some CPU time and its an tie off between fedility and time. nCheers,nRam n
