SubscriberHello
Some questions about GPU.
I have a DELL Precision 7730 equiped with NVIDIA Quadro P3200 (6 GB GDDR5).
Why its 6 GB are not fully used when the cursor is on "Fidelity max" position? (Only 2.5 GB)
Why the use of the GPU is blocked at 41% on mains and 25% on battery? Why never 100%?
Thanks.

SubscriberHi Marc-Antoine Lafay
Utilization of GPU is predominantly govern by the shape of the geometry. So while, 6GB is the max allowed, it may not be necessarily used.
Thanks & Regards,
Gaurav

SubscriberHi Gaurav_ANSYS
Thanks a lot.
What about the difference 41% on mains and 25% on battery? On battery, computation is slowed !? Why?
Best regards.

I dont think running on battery or mains should make a difference as I havent heard of anything related that trigger such a discrepancy. I also tried to do an apple to apple comparative study by running the same problem under the two conditions, with no other app running at my end and could not reproduce any conflict as the GPU utilization came out to be almost the same under both conditions. (though the GPU usage keeps on fluctuating a bit)
The observation you have reported might be triggered by any other factor, such as other applications running or may be different problems used or something else?
Anyways, is there any performance issue you are facing that is bothering you when running on battery or on mains?
Best Regards,
Gaurav

SubscriberHi Gaurav_ANSYS
There is no other application.
I plug or unplug mains and I see that Discovery Live slow when mains is unplugged.

Ansys EmployeeHi Marc-Antoine Lafay, performance changes between plugged in and battery are usually driven by the PC Bios. It is also secondarily controlled by Windows Control Panelpower optionsEdit Plan SettingsChange Advanced Power settings and there are usually numerous toggles that can decrease overall system performance. Discovery Live is not able to override these settings when on battery.
