Ansys EmployeeHi mjh0619
Can you provide more information about your simulation? On which surface are you monitoring Mass Flow Rate?

SubscriberHey
I am monitoring from the INLET surface. I am running a transient analysis for a heat transfer problem with a small internal fan (pressure jump) inside. I am using an inlet velocity of 0.1 m/s with a pressure outlet to ambient. Please let me know what other information I can provide.

Ansys EmployeeIf you're monitoring the inlet mass flow, and the inlet velocity is 0.1m/s what should the mass flow be?

SubscriberWell, assuming I have a cross sectional area of 0.4 x 0.4 = 0.16 m^2. I have an air density of 1.225 kg/m^3. And a velocity of 0.1 m/s. I would expect it to be about 0.0196 kg/s. I am hoping this answers your question?

SubscriberI have never ran a simulation where the mass flow was so straight before! Maybe I am overthinking it?February 24, 2022 at 4:24 pmRob
Ansys EmployeeIf you're monitoring a fixed flow boundary the results tend to be fairly constant. Check the inlet area in Fluent too.
