SubscriberWe have some folks experiencing an issue with IE solver not functioning when it’s called in a sample simulation that comes with v19.2.
We tested it with the ANSYS simulation, along with one we created, and we got the same error: [error] Failed to check out license 'hfssie_solve'. License server does not support this license (FLEXlm Error -18) (10:01:09 AM Sep 26, 2018) [error] Simulation was terminated by license error. (10:01:09 AM Sep 26, 2018).
Contacting our rep we were told the following:
"We (or rather our license keys issuance systems) stopped issuing certain Ansoft license features, such as hfss_desktop, hfss_gui, etc. then issue them in the name electronics_##### to centralize everything to run using electronics_##### license feature name.
This customer sees bunch of UNSUPPORTED followed by certain license feature names because those don't exist in the new license file anymore ; however, this information is changed during users checking out those old licenses, that's why the software still trying to pull the same old license features. The replacement (electronics_####) license features should work once those users stopped and restarted their simulation, GUI."
We've updated our installations and license manager to the latest version but are still seeing this error. I can only assume that the license manager isn't reissuing the new name/version of the license?

Ansys EmployeeHello,
You need to change the HPC and Analysis Options -> Use legacy HFSS-IE license model to False. Please make sure you change if for the appropriate Design Type.
The issue with UNSUPPORTED will continue to appear as the license checkouts are in this order: 'hfss_desktop'. 'designer_desktop'. 'q3d_desktop'. 'maxwell_desktop'. 'simplorer_desktop'. 'electronics_desktop'
Starting with the next release the applications will look for electronics_#### licenses first, avoiding the UNSUPPORTED messages in the logs.
Thank you,
Matt -

SubscriberThanks. Is that a server or client side option?
