Host Key changed after installing WSL

      Good morning!

      After installing the WSL (linux shell for windows) my host key changed and, after this, I am not being able to access LS-DYNA solver.

      Please, is it possible to update the license file for the new host key?

      Thank you very much.

      Hello,

      What is the error message that you get when running LS-DYNA?

      Can you give more details about the problem?

      Also, make sure you are done making changes to the LSTC license server has it may change the hostid of the license server and a new license file will be required.

      Thanks.

      Reno.

      Hello,

      Do you generate the LSTC_SERVER_INFO file using the lstclmui.exe program on Windows? If so, do you run the lstclmui.exe as administrator? Make sure you run the lstclmui.exe as administrator before generating the server info file:

      Let me know how it goes.

      Reno.

      Dear Reno,

      Here is the error that we get after running a simple example in LS-DYNA on our server machine:

       *** License problem ***
       Network license:

       *** Error License client cannot find any servers to talk to.
                     Servers may be down, not ready, or the wrong version.

       *** Error 70022 (OTH+22)

      As you can see in the image below, the host id of the machine is not the same anymore (after the WSL installation):

      We have tried to start the LSTC License Manager on Services Windows App and we receive the following message:

      I think that it is worth mention that:

      • Every try mentioned above was made in the server computer and the host id changed after rebooting the system due to the WSL installation;
      • We are having the same problem with other software that have the license hosted in the same machine;
      • We tried to get the LSTC_SERVER_INFO from "License Manager > Network License Registration" but nothing happens and nothing is written in the LSTC_SERVER_INFO file;

      We have uninstalled the WSL and we do not intend to reinstall it again, so the system will remain the same.

      Although the system information has changed, it seems that, to resolve the problem, it is a matter of "updating" the license file.

      Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

      Hello,

      Yes, the following error message indicates that the host ID of the license server has changed and you need a new LSTC license file to run LS-DYNA:

      Please generate the LSTC_SERVER_INFO file using the lstclmui.exe program on the LSTC license server machine and send it to your Ansys account manager to issue a new license file. You will have to sign a license change form before Ansys can cut the new license key.

      If you cannot generate the LSTC_SERVER_INFO file, make sure you run the lstclmui.exe program as administrator.

      On Linux, cd to the LSTC license manager installation directory on the LSTC license server machine and issue the following command to generate the LSTC_SERVER_INFO file:

      ./lstc_server info

      Reno.
