How do I Simulate Transient Conjugate Heat Transfer in Discovery?

      Hi,

I am currently working on a project for which I have to create a transient conjugate heat transfer simulation. I have a 3-dimensional geometry made from steel that is at a high initial temperature and I would like to simulate this geometry be cooled down by airflow from an external fan. I would also like to monitor the temperature distribution of the geometry as a function of time and visualize the airflow around it.

It is my understanding that in Discovery, conjugate heat transfer problems can only be solved in the "Refine" mode, but this mode doesn't seem to support time-dependent calculations (please see attached photo).

Am I missing something or am I approaching the problem incorrectly? I'd appreciate any support, guidance and advice!

      Thanks!

      Hello Anmol Bhatia

As indicated in the message, time dependent conjugate heat transfer simulation is currently not available in Discovery Refine mode. You can perform a steady state analysis to visualize the airflow and the temperature distribution in the model. You won't be able to monitor the temperature distribution of the geometry as a function of time.

Naresh Patre Thanks for the clarification! Are there any other tools you recommend that would allow me to do this?

      Hello Anmol Bhatia

I think Ansys Fluent should have this capability, although not sure.
