How does lumerical define current density, in charge solver?

      Hi,

      I am trying to confirm the current in a charge simulation, by comparing the current "I" extracted from the cathode (using get command in script), with the value of current calculated from current density. The formula I am using is I=J*S where S is the top surface of the conductor (anode). But I am not getting the same current. I tried it on several examples but the two currents plots are different. So my question is how does Lumerical define current density J in relation with current I? How can I get the current through current density to confirm it is matching the current extracted from the cathode or anode.

      I am using this algorithm : (y is the axis perpendicular to the anode conductor , Jd is the displacement current density calculated from the displacement current)

      Hi The current reported by the contacts is calculated as the total flux of current density across the surface of the contact. This is similar to the calculation done for the Current flux monitor (reference article):
      You would notice the results returned by the current flux monitor and the contacts are the same if the cross sections are identical. You can use the current flux monitor to confirm your calculations at another cross section, where calculating the surface area might be easier.
