SubscriberHello,
I am trying to verify that there are no overlapping bodies in my assembly.
My assembly includes a rectangular box, spheres, semi-hollow spheres, and voids.
I tried to use the shared topology tool after combining all the parts under one part, and I did see a reduction in faces.
However, I can't manage to visualize the difference.
Please find attach my geometry in regular view and in a shared topology view:
I am not sure what information I can get from these pictures.
I am a beginner with Ansys so I would appreciate any help.
Sincerely,
Gilad -

SubscriberYou can drag another Geometry component out of the toolbox and drop it on the Geometry cell. That will copy your existing geometry into a new cell. Then you can right mouse click on that new cell and Edit with SpaceClaim.
In SpaceClaim, click on the Prepare tab, then click on the Interference tool. It will highlight in red a solid that represents the interference between two solids. If you click on that red solid, it will subtract the interference from the larger of the two bodies.
There is also the Enclosure tool that will create a solid that covers all the solid bodies. Do that and see if there is anything inside the cube.

One question, does interferences affect your analysis? I just checked my FEA after reading this and I have two small interferences between profiles. Thank you

SubscriberIs the interference in the geometry a mistake that will be corrected before a physical prototype is made and tested? In that case, a small interference, when corrected, should have a small effect on the solution.
If the interference was constructed in the physical prototype, but no contact was added to the model to have the interference be resolved in the solution, then the analysis result could be very different when contact is added to the model to represent what is really happening in the physical prototype.
