How to construct a cylindrical flexible shell in Rocky-DEM

Hi, I am new to RockyDEM and there is so little information on the web about Rocky.

I want to use python to create a cylindrical flexible membrane in Rocky using the shell element that is subjected to a uniform stress along the radial direction. I intend to set this up via python. But I had looked through the API and the user manual, I still don't find any information about flexible membranes.

I hope somebody can help me. I am very grateful.

      Thanks,

      Zhiren

I don't think you can deform geometry in Rocky (yet) as there's not an update option. It's why we can't do 2-way coupling with Mechanical at present.

I once saw a promotional video about ANSYS and Rocky, presented by ANSYS senior engineer Jiang Xuedong and hosted by Molly, which mentioned the use of flexible shell particles in Rocky to simulate Belts and Packing Efficiency. If flexible shell particles can simulate the belt and packing, I wonder if I could model a cylindrical membrane with the flexible shell particles, then extract the stresses on each shell element and control its stress change using the user custom with API, wouldn’t it be possible to apply uniform pressure to the cylindrical membrane? I'd like to give it a try if that's possible. But now, I still don’t know how to find access to control the stresses on the flexible shell particles.

acually it is possible to do that. I wrote the python code that update geometry each time based on stress and deformation from ansys mechancial. it is not like flexible membrane but the geometry variable in shape

I once saw a promotional video about ANSYS and Rocky, presented by ANSYS senior engineer Jiang Xuedong and hosted by Molly, which mentioned the use of flexible shell cells in Rocky to simulate Belts and Packing Efficiency; unfortunately I can't upload pictures or I would be able to explain it better.
