SubscriberHello,
I created a pavement model to simulate solar radiation. The Solar Ray Tracing Model was used for solar source and the Surface to Surface Model was selected as the Radiation Model. The solar-calculator was adopted to calculate solar irradiation and sun direction. The time step was set as 1 hour=3600s. However, the the temperature and solar heat flux did not show a periodic change. Also, I try to use UDF to calculate solar irradiation. Similar results were obtained that the temperature and solar heat flux did not show a periodic change. Would you please give me some suggestions? Thank you!

Ansys EmployeeHello Henry,
When you want to run a transient solar load simulation, the process is the same as for the steady-state case but you will need to specify the additional Time Steps per Solar Load Update parameter in the Radiation Model dialog box. Ansys Fluent will re-compute the sun position and irradiation and update solar loads with this specified frequency. This should work. In order to exactly set up the conditions according to best practices guidelines please refer this user guide link.

14.3.11.5.4. Solar Ray Tracing (Please refer)
/define/models/radiation/solar-parameters> sol-adjacent-fluidcells Apply Solar Load on adjacent Fluid Cells? [no] y - I recommed you to activate this TUI.
I hope this solves your problem
Thanks,

SubscriberHello Chaitanya,
Thank you for your timely response! I followed your suggestions, however, the problem was still there. Is there any tutorial for this kind of simulation? Or, would you please give me some additional suggestions? Thank you!
Best regards,
Henry
