SubscriberHi,
I want to find the input impedance of a rod inside soil using HFSS. I think I should use Terminal solution type, and maybe lumped port excitation. Can someone please help me in this regard, if I am correct? and how should I define terminals?

SubscriberHi bamdadslr,
Yes driven terminal should work (HFSS > Solution Type... > Terminal).
Create a monopole on a ground plane as shown below.
Create Lumped port on port sheet as shown below.
Now just cover the submerged part of rod with soil material as shown in figure below.
Plot smith chart to get input impedance.
Hope this helped.
Thanks,
Aman

SubscriberHi asamaiyar,
I think the distance of the earth from our electrode and also the dimensions of the earth will affect the impedance of the rode, am I right?
So we have to find a limit for these two values in which the impedance value will converge to a specific value.

SubscriberYes. That sounds correct.

SubscriberThanks. Is there any way to solve the memory issue on HFSS? I increased the number of meshes to get a better accuracy, but run out of memory.
