I have tried to import a model from CATIA V5 to ANSYS APDL by .stp/.igs/.stl/.CATPart , but none of the extensions is working. When I tried to import it to workbench it got imported easily but not into APDL.
One more query is whether it is possible to change the element type in Workbench as we can do it in APDL ?

Thanks for the help !
I have written the commands as you told but how to incorporate it in the model ? Please see that even after the APDL command is given the material is showing to be structural steel.

The material gets overwritten when the input file is written out to the solver. You can check this in Workbench by selecting Solution in the Outline, then use Tools, Write Input File. Check in the .dat file that is written for the material you inserted, it will be there.
