SubscriberHi,
I am looking for help in calculating infrared (IR) signature for objects, especially in the mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and long-wave infrared (LWIR) regions. I realize ANSYS/Fluent can solve radiative heat transfer including solar irradiation. However, I could find an option to calculate the IR signature from radiation intensities. Is there any option available in ANSYS/Fluent to calculate IR signatures? Are there any tutorials/examples available for these calculations?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Ansys EmployeeThe Ansys tools can help you model radiation emission, reflection & absorbtion. What are you actually trying to determine?

SubscriberMy goal is to calculate radiation contrast intensity (Watts per solid angle or W/Sr) at midwave infrared (3~8 micrometer) and longwave infrared (8~15 micrometer) range. These "thermal images" are helpful for detecting objects using infrared sensors. MWIR signature is important to detect higher temperature regions and LWIR is important to detect slightly lower temperatures regions.
