Initial Angular Velocity in Transient Structural

      Hello friends.

      I want to do a transient analysis of a disc brake (during braking). But ANSYS GUI is not allowing me to input the initial angular velocity to the disc (it's Greyed out). Also, the commands option is greyed out. What should I do?

      How should I proceed with the analysis of the results?

      Do you have a Revolute Joint on the disc?

      Apply a Joint Load on that Revolute Joint of type Rotational Velocity

      Use a 4 step solution process.

      Step 1, ramp the Rotational Velocity from 0 to the desired value in 0.9 seconds.

      Step 2, hold the Rotational Velocity constant for 0.09 seconds.

      Step 3, Deactivate the Joint Load (unless you want it active) in 0.01 seconds.

      Step 4, Apply the brakes!

      All your braking data will start at t=1.00 seconds.

      Thank you for your quick reply.

      I have two doubts

      1. I am receiving an error for the time step setting.

      2. How to "apply brakes",  like I have given pads the displacement of 0.01 mm "within" the disc (referred to a video) but not sure whether it's right or not.

      Why do you have 20 steps?  I thought 4 or 5 steps would be sufficient.

      Here is the Joint Load with with steps 3 and 4 deactiviated.

      Since the brake pads have a Translational joint, apply a Joint Load of Type = Force and set the force at 0 for steps 1, 2, and 3 then apply the force in step 4.
