SubscriberTo whom it may concern,
I'm modeling a simple cylindrical press fit in ANSYS to validate the "offset" command. The joint has H7/m6 tolerance field with 5 mm diameter and 8mm hub external diameter, wich leads to an aproximate 146 MPa pressure based on the shell theory (both shaft and hub are steel with E=200GPa and poisson's ratio = 0,3).
The pressure evaluated from ANSYS is way higher (>400 MPa).
The contact between has a 6 micron radial offset.
Would somebody tell what I've done wrong?
Many thanks in advance,
Michele Gulino

SubscriberSearching this site for "interference fit" has 120 results on Google. Some of them compared a model result with a textbook equation. Look through them to see if you can find something useful. Some of the Google results link to posts that have been deleted. You can look at the Cached result in that case.
This online calculator verifies your pressure calculation.
