I am trying to carry out a structural analysis with 3d and 2d geometry and compare the results.
I want to use plane stress analysis for 2d geometry. But I am getting this error when I try to edit the model cell from Ansys mechanical.
3D analysis is working fine.
I changed the analysis type from 3d to 2D in the geometry property.
I tried in ansys 2021 R2 and 2022 R2. I am facing same error.
Do you have any suggestions for me?

You cannot change an existing model from 3D to 2D. It doesn't work. I don't know why.
To build a 2D model, you must start with a new Static Structural model, and on the Geometry cell in Workbench, set the Analysis Type to 2D before you open the model. I assume you have sheet bodies in the X-Y plane with Z = 0. That is another requirement.

Thanks, You are right. I think there was an issue with my geometry. Even though it looked in x-y plane it was not taking. After redoing the geometry it worked.
