SubscriberHello,
I have been creating an explicit dynamics simulation. I implemented the Johnson Cook Failure model, but in my simulation, there are no visual effects. I have seen the "I want to see failure" post, although I don't know how that would pertain to the JC failure model specifically. Is there any way to visually see the effects of the failure model?
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeHi,
In Analysis Settings --> Eroding --> Turn on material failure. Then if the failure criterion is satisfied in JK model, the element will be deleted.

SubscriberWenlong,
Thank you for your answer. I have one more question. How would track the damage output for the JC failure model? Would I have to use a Fatigue Tool? If so, is this usable in explicit dynamics because for me, it is unselectable?

Ansys EmployeeYou can insert a user-defined result and type "DAMAGE" in the definition. Here is the reference: https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v201/en/exd_ag/ds_ex_mat_johncookf.html?q=johnson%20cook

SubscriberI am sorry. I don't really get what you are saying. I created a user-defined result, and where it says "Expression", I typed "DAMAGE". Although, I am getting an error saying DAMAGE is not recognizable.

SubscriberHello can anyone tell me how to define Johnson cook material damage constant in ansys for steel 4340 as there is no option available to define this parameter only Johnson strength is there
