In the ANSYS t junction tutorial the orientated selection set of the vertical section point outwards away from the horizontal section. However, this is not always possible for more complicated geometries.
I ran two cases, one with the selection sets pointing away and one with them pointing towards and got vastly different results. I am not quite sure about how to properly model a carbon fiber junction in ANSYS and to model the fact that there is a fillet joining the faces
I have attached my results. The outside had failure = 0.55 and the inside had failure = 0.77 for the exact same loads and mesh.
