laptop suggestion for transient-multiphase simulation

      Hello guys;

      I need your hints and advice for getting a suitable laptop for running FLUENT simulations. I do multiphase, species mass transfer, transient modelling. Therefore, fine meshing is necessary.

      My current HP one has got 8 GB RAM and is not good at all. When the simulation starts, the laptop is almost unusable for other tasks such as internet searching and Ms-office jobs because it becomes so so slow.

      Unfortunately, I don't have access to any computer cluster.

      Thanks in advance for your guides.

      Fluent is also licence limited, do you have Research level or are you using Student?

      I use the Student version of ANSYS-FLUENT.

      OK, so you also have a cap at 512k cells and (I think) 4 cores parallel. Before you buy any more RAM check you are capping out on RAM. If you're running 4 cores and the laptop is a quad core (physical cores) you will find it's very slow as Fluent will use all the system resource that's allocated and all the RAM it wants to.
