SubscriberHello everyone,
I am using fluent LES model for my turbulent flow and one thing makes me confused when I was reading the fluent LES theory is the filter width and filtering process. Fluent is defining the filtering function as
but no where it is mentioned that, what is
?
The second question is- What is the value of filter width, how the value of filter width is decided? In fluent manual it is only mentioned that y-plus value should be equal to 1 for grid purpose.
It will be very helpful if anyone can help me with this doubt.
Thank you
Amit

Ansys Employee.and in Fluent filtering is done by the grid itself so you need to invest more efforts in processing. -

SubscriberHello Abenhadj,
Thank you for your quick reply.
Can you please elaborate 'filtering is done by the grid itself'. This is the first time I heard about this filtering process.
Thank you
Amit

Ansys EmployeeThe filter is the grid itself anything smaller than the cell size won't be resolved and will be modeled. -
