I just installed student version 19.0 and started the Workbench and when I imported .stp file and run model, it wrote me this (picture). And geometry wasnt loaded.

I reinstaled it, deleted all, in app data too. Ofcourse I've used the recommended installation steps. Anything helped. I am desperate and please for help.

      Read this discussion.

If you put your STEP file in a zip file, you can attach it to your post if the zip file size is < 120 MB and I can test it.

I am student from https://www.vutbr.cz/en/ and I am working on project and we must create petrol engine. We are learning on it. So I created piston on Creo and assembled it with piston pin and exported to STEP.

But I had older version of Ansys and there when I imported this STEP file, all worked normally. But I reinstalled Ansys to newer version and this problem has arisen.

I just wanted to try, if Ansys will say me, that piston bolts are ok or not.

      Lol 7z.....File extension not allowed

      .File size is 37kB :-D

So I will upload STEP file to another server and you can download it by link.

Here. Just click on blue text "sestava_ansys_asm.stp"

Tom, you can zip the STEP file. You are trying to attach a .7z file which is not supported by the forum. The supported file formats are listed here.

Open the Geometry editor, either DesignModeler or SpaceClaim first.

In DesignModeler, you use File, Import External Geometry File and pick the STEP file

In SpaceClaim, you Open and pick the STEP file.

I gave you a link in my first comment with this information. Did you read it?

If you are on a Student license, the solver will not run if you have more than 32,000 nodes plus elements. This is near the limit.

Wow! Thank you so much! Now it is not a problem. I didnt know that, bacause in the school we didnt need use SpaceClaim first. We just imported it and in previous version of Ansys it was without problem.

So thank you, now it is working! :-)

Then select the stp file. After it imports, close DesignModeler and double click on Model to see your geometry in Mechanical.

Is this 32000 node limit something new? I keep having issues with it and i dont ever remember having to deal with this last year when i used 18.1 ?
