License Activation Behavior Using ansysls_client

      Hi, I had a question regarding how ansysls_client.exe works. After automating the installation of ANSYS DL on a cloud instance, I log into the instance and run ansysls_client -ActivateLicenseEntitlement and get the attached screenshot (error1.png). After opening DL and signing into my account, it tells me I do have any subscription (error2.png). Finally, I call ansysls_client -ActivateLicenseEntitlement again and my license is activated on the instance. Could you please explain why I am seeing this behavior? The behavior I expected would be that the license would be activated on the first ansysls_client call. Thanks, Brian

      It seems to be some issue with the MAC address not being initialized fully.  Can you send ansysls_client.*.log (located at %temp%/.ansys) from this system showing the error?  Also, send details about timezone of the system.

        Naresh Patre Please see attached log. The log shows failing license activations going through the GUI, but a successful activation via calling ansysls_client from a cmd prompt.

      The log does not seem to show the activation failure with the bad parameter.  It only shows a successful activation and deactivation.  It could be possible that the cloud instance that saw the issue is now gone.  If you see the issue again please send the debug log files in the %TEMP%.ansys directory before closing the cloud instance.

            Naresh Patre Hi Naresh, from my log, the denied attempts were all from going through signing into my Discovery Live account after double-clicking the shortcut on my desktop. The successful activation/deactivation was through calling ansysls_client from Powershell. I would like to understand why this does not work through the GUI but works via Powershell/CMD.

        RescaleBrian I have been told that it is just a temporary glitch in the FNO server or network traffic between them which resulted in the issue.

        Are you still facing the same issue?

        RescaleBrian Can you set ANS_FLEXLM_DEBUG env var to a non-zero value (like 1) and then try the steps to reproduce the issue? Once done, please send all files from %temp%/.ansys folder for further investigation.
