License Checkout issue

      Dear All

Strangely I get this error for most windows only installs while most Linux installs are able to checkout license. Any idea what could be wrong? I don't see any denials in the license server logs nor any errors, aslo not a firewall issues as I see each client IP connecting and showing up in my lmgrd strace logs. So they are all certainly making it to the license server but for some reason not issues licenses.

      Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Hello Amit,

Does it work on some Windows installs?
Compare the license debug files on both machines that work and those that dont:
      %TEMP%\.ansys

This directory will contain debug files.

Can you ping the license server from the client machine by the name in the license file on the

      License Server?

      Ping license2

      Ping license2.smu.edu

What firewall exeptions do you have on the License server?

Shut down the ANSYS License Manager on your license server

Then, edit the license file using notepad:
      c:\Program files\Ansys Inc\Shared Files\licensing\license_files\ansyslmd.lic

Add: PORT=1056 to the VENDOR line, so it looks as follows:

      SERVER Servername hostid 1055
      VENDOR ansyslmd  PORT=1056

(Change 1056 to any free port you see fit)

Then all 3 ports should be open in the incoming and outgoing Firewall Exceptions:
      1055,1056,2325

Also, on the Client, make sure that the ansyscl.exe executable is added to the client firewall exceptions

      C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v221\licensingclient\winx64\ansyscl.exe

      Best,
      Geo
