License Checkout issue

  Hi,
  
  I recently installed the Ansys license server and installed the product on each respective client.
  
  On the client, when I open the Ansys client license server

  On the client, I open Reaction Design Workbench and receive this error message:

  FLEXlm Error Message:
  
  Failover feature 'ANSYS Academic Research CFD' specified in license preferences is not available.
  FLEXlm server is not responding. Resource temporarily not available.

  Can someone help?

  Hi nguyenhu,
  
  If checking license status work, your client can communicate with server via FlexNet port (1055) and the ansyslmd (ANSYS Vendor daemon) port (dynamics).
  
  However, when you are opening ANSYS products, it uses the ANSYS Licensing Interconnect (port 2325).
  
  Please check the followings:
  
  1. Port 2325 open between the two machines.
  
  2. No license preferences is set on client machine. You can check this from pasting %appdata% (in your Windows File Explorer address bar) or you can put this in Windows search > Ansys > v1xx > licensing > if there is a file here, please rename it to something else or delete it. This would reset the license preferences.
  
  3. Add the followings inside your ansyslmd.ini file on client machine
  
  ANSYSLI_TIMEOUT_FLEXLM=10 (can increase the number but shouldn’t be too large, e.g., larger than 15)
  
  ANSYSLI_FNP_IP_ENV=1
  
  ANSYSLI_FLEXLM_TIMEOUT_ENV=10000000 (can increase the number but shouldn’t be too large, e.g., larger than 15000000)

  Thanks for the reply Win.
  
  1. I have verified that port 2325 is working and open between the two machines.
  
  2. I removed the files in the %appdata% folder referencing the license preferences.
  
  3. I made the changes to the ansyslmd.ini file to increase timeouts
  
  Unfortunately, this did not help. I still get the error message "License check out Failed Flexlm Error Message - Failover feature "Ansys Academic Research CFD specified in license preferences is not available."

  Try the following commands (change your installation path accordingly) in CMD Prompt
  
  “C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensingwinx64ansysli_util” -checkout aa_r_cfd
  
  “C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensingwinx64ansysli_util” -checkout FLUENT_SOLVER
  
  Make sure you copy-paste each and entire line of the commands above one-by-one.
  
  On the license server machine, if you can ask the server admin to try the exact commands above as well as trying my suggestion #3 , that would be great.

  So I tried your commands

  Result:
  aa_r_cfd CHECKOUT FAILED

  Fluent_solver CHECKOUT FAILED
  
  But when I check the license server status it says license manger is running.

  Thank you for the info.
  
  For some reason, on the license server machine itself, the ANSYS Licensing Interconnect cannot talk with FlexLM even though both appear to be up and running.
  
  This is the issue from your ANSYS Licensing Interconnect log
  
  2018/09/14 18:48:02 INFO Unable to connect to FLEXlm path 1055@131.238.49.19; adding to "Unavailable FLEXlm Servers" cache.
  
  I would ask your IT to add the following in ansyslmd.ini on the license server (if this file doesn't exist on there, they can manually create one)
  
  ANSYSLI_TIMEOUT_FLEXLM=10 (can increase the number but shouldn’t be too large, e.g., larger than 15)
  
  ANSYSLI_FNP_IP_ENV=1
  
  ANSYSLI_FLEXLM_TIMEOUT_ENV=10000000 (can increase the number but shouldn’t be too large, e.g., larger than 15000000)
  
  ANSYSLI_TIMEOUT_TCP=120
  
  ANSYSLI_TIMEOUT_CONNECT=60
  
  Then, restart the ANSYS License Manager.

  I have something close to this problem. I have a researcher who is running Ansys 19.1 on one of our servers. We currently have a Academic and a Research licenses. When he runs a model he is getting a error that states The Ansys License manager Error :Failover feature 'CFD Solver - Level 2 specified in license preferences is not available. Request name cfd_solve_level2 does not Nexis in the license pool. Flexner Licensing error -97,121 Thank you Tony L
