SubscriberHi folks, i have been trying to analyze an ipm machine in ANSYS Maxwell. However, when i plot the flux lines, i saw that the flux lines passing through magnets follow an zig zagish path. The red (N) and blue (S) parts of design represent magnets in the screenshots given below. As far as I'm concerned, the flux lines should pass directly through magnets. Any explanation for such solution?

Ansys EmployeeHello kobay000,
The reason is that magnetic flux would go easy way and follow path with higher permeabilty. There is lamination between magnets with higher permeability than the magnets, so the flux will have a shift and try to go the path along the lamination. Thanks.
