SubscriberHello there! I'm not receiving an error the mechanical screen opens but is just dark gray. It never times out, I let it go for 30 min and waited on an error but nothing. I can open APDL and run it, I can also run space claim. The error in the picture in Workbench is due to me closing out mechanical.

SubscriberI had the same problem. Open as Administrator a Command prompt and run the following commands:
regsvr32.exe ole32.dll
regsvr32.exe atl.dll
regsvr32.exe oleaut32.dll
regsvr32.exe scrrun.dll
regsvr32.exe jscript.dll
regsvr32.exe vbscript.dll
Then delete the files in the %APPDATA% Local and Roaming for both the ANSYS and SpaceClaim folders.
These actions might make Mechanical work properly.

SubscriberIn my case, the computer has both anti-virus and cyber-security programs running that I cannot turn off. One of those blocks the part of the ANSYS installer that registers these dll's in the registry.
