SubscriberI've recently installed ANSYS version 18.2, and am working on the ANSYS Fluent Tutorial Guide to learn the software starting with the first tutorial.
I'm having issues with mesh generation for any geometries I use, even for simple 3D objects such as cylinders and spheres, and have tried adjusting all mesh parameters but to no success. Following the tutorial guide step-by-step, and testing on different shapes, I am constantly given the same error message each time:
"The mesh generation did not complete due to poor quality elements or incorrect input. Please try meshing with another mesh method or different mesh options. "
I have tested this exact same tutorial and steps on versions 19, 18.0, and now 18.2 and have also had the exact same issue for each of them. I'm quite desperate to find a solution for this as I need to use this software for college, so any help or input on the issue would be greatly appreciated,
Many thanks

Ansys EmployeeHello brlong,
Please check under Global Mesh settings and ensure that you have specified Physics preference as "CFD" and Solver as "Fluent". Also, if you have specified any element sizes, make sure that they are in proportion to the geometry dimensions. Also, check the units in which you are working.
Check out some meshing videos at below link:

SubscriberHi,
Thank you for your help, but I have been using those settings for each mesh I have tried to generate so far. I followed the steps in the tutorial you posted above and also encountered the same issue.
Do you have any other recommendations for what might be the problem? Could it be a hardware issue? I have tried the same problems on different machines to test if there was something wrong with my method, but had no problems then.
Thanks again

Ansys EmployeeHello,
You may want to compare your hardware configuration with other machines where you see no issue.
