SubscriberHello Everyone,
I have been trying to mesh a portion with a gap (See attachment). Every time I use Inflation, Automatic Method the meshing fails. if it doesn't fail, the mesh quality is unacceptable.
I want to use Inflation layers in the portions marked with blue arrows. I don't know what the problem is. I would be really grateful if anyone could help me in this regard

Is this this line along the bottom intentional?
I'm guessing that you did not intend to have any mesh there, so that needs to be fixed first.
When you construct the "hump" to subtract it from the block, make the hump protrude below the block and be wider than the block prior to the subtract. That will guarantee that you get a clean result for meshing.
After the geometry is clean, use a method Sweep and pick the body, and pick a Source face, which is the face we see in the images above. Once you have the Sweep defined, RMB on the Sweep and pick Inflate this Method, and with the Edge filter, pick the three edges you were pointing to where you want the inflation.
If you have difficulty, please attach a Workbench Project Archive .wbpz file to after you reply.

SubscriberThank you Keyur I will look for it. I guess there has to be some anomaly in the geometry for the mesh to fail every time.

Please follow the instructions in this link to create a .wbpz file, which is permitted to be attached.
The .wbpj file is not useful without the _files folder that has the same name as the .wbpj file. If you put those two things in a zip file, you are allowed to attach zip files also.

You are allowed to attach .txt file extenstions.

P.S. you didn't need put the .wbpz file into the zip file, you can attach that extension directly.

The source of your problem is the end point on the curve has a positive Z coordinate.
You need to add another point that has either a zero Z coordinate or even a negative Z coordinate. This positive Z coordinate is the reason you are getting a sliver of material and a failure to mesh. Add a point (115, 0, 0) to this end and a point (84.7, 0, 0) at the other end.

Attached is the modified coordinates file. Try changing to this file and reconstructing your model with these zero end points.

Here is a simpler construction. You go directly to a 3D curve that uses the coordinates file, create a line from points (end points), Extrude the curve and line then Boolean subtract.
Here is the inflation layer. I only put 2 elements along the sweep, but you can change that. Did you consider running a 2D model first?

I changed everything just the way you mentioned. Thanks a ton for your help. I was so stuck. I did everything once again to be clear about the construction and meshing process and it did work very well. The mesh quality is also very good. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it

You're welcome. I did find selecting the 3D curve and line to make the Extrude of the hump can be difficult. Some special conditions have to be present to allow those to be selected and I'm not sure exactly what those conditions are, but I managed to stumble on them in the end.

Yes, it was indeed somewhat tricky to use those tools and then extrude. I failed so many times in doing the Extrude. But finally, with your help, I could do it
Your approach was a lot easier and clear. The geometry seemed so clean and the mesh quality was very good as well.
