SubscriberHello,
Is it possible to automatically generate a midsurface from a trapezoidal prism. I am able to do it manually (see the attached video), but the workflow is not that friendly.
Regards,
Charles

The Midsurface function in the Prepare tab should be able to achieve this. Select the Use Range option and enter the maximum thickness of the prism. Click and drag a box around the prism to select it. The faces should be paired automatically.

SubscriberHello Brian,
Thank you for your answer.
The Midsurface function works most of the time, but some trapezoidal prisms it does not work properly even if the specified range covers the min/max thickness of the prism. See attached the geometry where I am unable to generate a midsurface (Note that if I extend the small thickness of 1 mm up to 2 mm, it works fine).
I am on 19.2.
Regards,
Charles

I'll have to inquire with the development team about this. I'm not sure if the Midsurface tool is intended to work on a body with non-uniform thickness. We may be reaching the limitation of the tool's ability to identify paired faces.
