SubscriberI posted this questioj over at the general forum for a lumped port at mmwave at HFSS. i found it to be a problem at mmwave when the lumped port is electrically large.

Help with the posed questions is much appreciated.

Ansys EmployeeHi Jacob,
Without additional information, your setup looks correct. The reference impedance of the ports in HFSS does not impact matching, but rather is the impedance used for measurement of the S-parameters.
The port definition in HFSS should be consistent with the ports used to create the SMD model s-parameters. In your case, the reference is the top ground layer and the signal pins are on the same layer. Identical to the ports you defined - so all is good.
If you're unsure, you may try using the reciprocal network to create a virtual test fixutre, then extract the s-parameters from your HFSS project to extract only the switch model. You should get something very close to the original s-parameters.

Boost Ansys Fluent Simulations with AWS
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) helps engineers design products in which the flow of fluid components is a significant challenge. These different use cases often require large complex models to solve on a traditional workstation.
