Modeling reinforced materials in ANSYS

      Hi Everyone,

I want to model the mechanical behavior of rubber-like material reinforced by very thin fibers that can only bear tensile stresses. I know that we can model fibers in ANSYS Mechanical, considering beam elements and using the "reinforcement" option for their type. However, after the simulation is converged, I cannot plot the stress distribution in these fibers. It seems this type of simulation doesn't model the actual fibers. Does anyone know how we can measure the stress in fibers alone?

I would appreciate any help that you can provide.

      Hello

You should be able to . Below is a screenshot of the tutorial we made:https://forum.ansys.com/discussion/26384/how-can-we-model-failure-in-reinforced-concrete-rc-slabs#latest

and where we plot the stresses in the reinforcement elements (reinf264 in 2021 R2).

or if you select all the line bodies (2021 R2):

      That works also

      All the best

      Erik

Dear Erik I appreciate your help! Thanks.
I plotted the results as you suggested, but I still have that problem. It seems when we select the "reinforcement" option for the beam model, only the effect of the fiber is modeled not its actual elements. Please see the figures below.
      Kind regards
