Modelling Natural Convection problem involving a large temperature difference (about 120 K)

      Hi,

As per the official Fluent guide, "The Boussinesq model should not be used if the temperature differences in the domain are large.". Does this hold true for AIM as well? If yes, then my question is how to go about modelling a large temperature difference (120 K) natural convection problem in AIM? Like Fluent, I did not see any options (piecewise-linear, piecewise-polynomial, or polynomial)  to define a temperature dependent density.

Any insights appreciated, thank you !

      Hello anshu16

Changing the material model option in the material assignment to ideal gas will activate the Density Difference buoyancy model.

Please check out below link from online help document for 2 models:

Naresh Patre Thank you. I am unable to access the link you provided. Could this be because I am currently using a trial version of ANSYS Aim and not really a "Customer" yet? In that case, is there another way to access this web page?

anshu16 That should not be the reason. Are you able to login to https://ansyshelp.ansys.com ?

Naresh Patre I am not able to login. When i try signing up, it asks me Account number/Customer number which I am not sure I have.

anshu16 I will check about the login and let you know. Meanwhile, I am attaching the snapshot of help section on buoyancy model.
