SubscriberI'm currently performing a Modal Analysis of a Circular Disc, with a cut on it (V-shaped with certain depth to it). I modelled my composite using ACP, and ran an analysis of the completed disc in Modal, and got good results. I would like to do the same with the cut. But, I'm unsure of how to create the cut, considering the fact that the Geometry prepared before ACP is Surface, and cannot be altered later on after it converts to solid after ACP.
Thanks in advance! -

Ansys EmployeeHello Sankar,
You may be able to create the V cut-outs using extrusion guides when doing the solid extrusion:
You can also import geometries to use as cut-outs:
You will find more information in the ACP help:
https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v231/en/acp_ug/acp_solid-model.html
If you have access to the Ansys Learning Hub, you will find more information in the ACP training course:

Let me know how it goes.

Ansys EmployeeHello Sankar,
An alternative is to build the composite layup on a surface like you have been doing, but instead of extruding the solid model, you can import a solid mesh of the finished part (with cut-outs and everything) and then map the composite layup on the solid mesh. You will find more information about this technique along with an example model in the help:
https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v231/en/acp_ug/acp_ex_mapped_composite_solid.html
Let me know how it goes.
Reno.
